About the Study
The study “War Refugees from Ukraine in the Face of Historical Trauma” ” was carried out as part of a project conducted by the Department of Psychology at the University of Warsaw. Its main objective was to examine the extent to which historical trauma (e.g., the experience of wars) may translate into a contemporary tendency to believe in conspiracy theories.

Number of respondents: 400 people

Study topics

  • the relationship between conspiracy beliefs and historical traumatic experiences in societies
  • the impact of historical trauma on the general level of public distrust
  • the relationship between historical trauma and distrust of institutions, medical treatments, and politicians
  • the relationship between traumatic experiences and susceptibility to disinformation
